Nope, you got it wrong. Mercedes owns Chrysler. Hence, Daimler in the name 🙂
no, mercedes is brand of daimler-chrysler.

Actually, I think it was a merge. Either way, one thing I'm 100% sure is that no american company or exec has any say in mercedes side of the business. The reverse is true, crysler does have a few german execs.

yeah, but that doesn't changed the fact that mercedes was a brand of daimler benz and is now a brand of DCX.

Ford owns Jag. That should be of no surprise as the quality of both vehicles is abhorrent to say the least.

Owned by General Motors: Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Saturn, Hummer, Saab, Opel
Plus Vauxhall and Holden. They have a controlling interest in Daewoo. They are "partners" of Suzuki, Isuzu, Subaru, and Fiat. They used to own Lotus. They've collaborated with BMW, Toyota, and Renault. They're all over the place.

However, the most valuable part of the GM empire: they still own the Geo name. 😛
GM now owns 20% of Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent of Subaru, so I'd say it's more than just a partnership.

As for Daimler-Chrysler, it was NOT a merger, despite the fact that it was sold that way to the American public. The Germans are firmly in control of the company.

edit: btw, your stupid friends probably think that because BMW owned Land Rover a couple of years back. Unfortunately, Land Rover was bleeding money so BMW sold it to Ford.

There's an educated opinion if I've ever seen one. Essentially: "they look bad from behind so they suck." Blind American car hatred at its best.

Of course, It's cool to hate American cars on AT, so I'm not surprised.

Heh, don't be so sure! The BMW brand is one of the most valuable in the world. Should sh!tty new features like iDrive and sh!tty new designs like that of the E65 7-series continue to force BMW profits down, the Quandt family will most likely look to sell its 50+% share to the highest bidder. Who has the money? Ford, GM, Toyota? The Quandt family might only agree to sell it to another German company, though. Either VW or Porsche.

He meant by spelling, to change your to you're. Your is the possessive form of you, while you're is the contraction of you are,and thus works better in this situation.😛

One way to tell...BMWs are reliable cars with great resale value. Where Ford is just an acronym for Fix or Repair Daily.
