Is bluetooth as lame as this Logitech set has convinced me it is?

Ok I have been to Best Buy about 3 times in the last 3-4 months for keyboards/mice; I cant find anything that is really that comfortable for me. I finally got this Logitech MX 5000 for Bluetooth keyboard/mouse set, and the Keyboard mouse is literally 4-5 feet from the PC and it has huge lag spikes between when I type and when the PC recieves the data, also the mouse is terribly slow. If I have to I will go back to using wired Input devices, but I am wondering if everyone's experience with Bluetooth has been the same or if it is just my experience. The reason I went to bluetooth in the first place is because me and my girlfriend both got the same 'regular wireless' keyboard and mouse at the same time and they were interfering with each other, so I took mine back and got bluetooh and it sucks something awful.

I only use my PC for MMORPGs pretty much. So I need to be able to click, and type. :)

Now only if they made a wireless Z-Board with a WOW or EQ2 template...

Just wondering, why wireless? I love my wired stuff... Especially this Logitech G15. It's got me looking at a G5 mouse now. :)

Hi:

I have the original Logitech Bluetooth DiNovo desktop sitting on a shelf
gathering dust in the basement.

It worked ok for ~4 months then would just wink out.

No keyboard/mouse. Nice.

I don't know why.

My desktop KB/Mouse setup is not something I want to be bothered
fooling with. Stable/reliable is #1 and by a long shot.

Could be MS and other BT device mfrs have their own ideas on how
BT should work.

I've also been trying to find a nice BT keyboard/mouse set. I settled on the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth because it seems to get way better user reviews than the Logitech sets on Amazon and Newegg. The downside is that I don't really like how the Microsoft set looks (semi-translucent keys, and lots of blue), although I'm not a big fan of the Logitech BT sets either.

Another difference is that the higher end Logitech sets come with a charging dock for the mouse. It seems that MS wireless mice have great battery lives and I can just get a pack of NiMHs though. This should also clear up my desk with one less cable and charging cradle. I already have chargers for my PDA, two iPods, Nintendo DS, cell phone, and two digital cameras cluttering up my desk.

My fiance loves her Logitech bluetooth mouse (can't for the life of me remember the model). And hopefully the Microsoft Elite keyboard that I just grabbed on eBay will work as well as I hope.

Plug the bluetooth receiver into the usb ports on the front of the case. I've had to do that with both of my dinovo lasers.

The microsoft set worked fine for me with any usb port, but it seams like the logitech transceiver is weak and doesn't like being under a desk, behind the computer. On the front ports, it works fine. I like their older setup, where the mouse charger was the bluetooth tranceiver, it worked much better with the tranceiver sitting on your desk, a few inches from your mouse.

Doesn't Bluetooth have a 5 to 7 foot range limit? I remember reading that it was fairly short range.

I am using a Logitech MX1000 wireless mouse, its RF not BT, but its been a fantastic replacement for my old MX700 RF wireless mouse. My keyboard is still wired, unfortunately, Logitech's only ergo wireless keyboard only comes with a cheapo wireless mouse. Once they bundle their wireless ergo keyboard with their wireless G7 mouse, I'll most likely pick that up.

There's no way I could go back to using a wired mouse though, I've been spoiled by it.
