https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Pro-Intel-Core/dp/B01606IDL0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479403497&sr=8-1&keywords=surface+pro+4&th=1

That's on amazon right now for under 1068, free shipping. No typecover, so add 100. That's 1168. So it's 20% off. Not a small amount but also not 30%. That's even assuming you 'need' the typecover. Also: those typecovers can be found cheaper either used on amazon or new on ebay (I saw $60). So that brings you down to $1100, so 10% off.

so...$999 is a bad deal how? ;) and yeah, typecover not included is a crime because a typecover on a surface pro is mandatory.

That said, I didn't realize it dropped to $1068 on AMZ.

Agreed @ typecover. And I'm just saying these 'steep discounts' usually aren't. It's usually either a mild discount on a middling product (often in extremely limited quantities, aka the 'doorbusters'), or they're either last year's crap needing to go away (there's a reason nobody bought it!) or garbage made specifically for these sales, which is usually worth less than it's being advertised as.

02JUL from third party, coulda been a holiday thing, or something. You'll also notice that it hits 999 pretty often, the last time being end of OCT. Most likely artificially kept above that point for anyone who's been looking for that model in the last 30 days to 'appear' like a discount. I'm willing to bet most people buy a product they're eyeballing within 30 days of the idea getting in their head.

One year old tech generally isn't that bad, I'd rather save the money in 90%+ of the cases. In fact, I just bought a Skylake XPS 13" for $550. Sure the new models are out and will be sold for a discount, but they don't offer me hundreds in added improvements.
