Is BF2 still a popular game?

you will never have a problem finding full 64 player servers.I just started playing again last week.Only game that could kill this off is Battlefield 3.

You can get this game at bargain bin pricing or used and it is still one of the best vehicle based multi-player shooters. I have a new build upcoming and planning on installing BF2 again and running it at max eye candy. Looking forward to Battlefield 3 finally coming out, too!

This is still one of the best MP games out there. Crysis Wars is also a lot of fun and is similar.

The next update that's coming out finally has WS. The game was so fun that I didn't care that it was so buggy. It's still fun. I jumped in and played it about a week ago. Still tons of people playing it.

It?s good to hear it?s still a popular game. There are only a handful of games that kept me coming back for more, and BF2 is one of them.

Going to order this bundle pack ? nice and cheap.

The widescreen update will be handy as I will be installing it on my laptop which has a resolution of 1440x900.

I presume an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 (256MB), 2ghz Core 2 Duo T7250 with 2 Gigs of RAM will be ok to run this game at full res and high gfx settings? OS is Vista 32, BTW.

It is a brilliant game. I can't wait for BC2 and BF3.

I remember running it on high everything with an overclocked 3000+ 6800nu 128MB and 2GB RAM so you should be fine.

I had a Gateway laptop with those specs (since sold it) and it ran it fine.

I have been wanting to play it all summer (my buddy and brother would hook up and play). Played it all last summer and started to become pretty good. My rig would run it pretty well too. I may have to get on now that you brought it up. The only game I have been really playing lately is Halo 3 :/

Same here. I can play BF2, and BF2:SF for hours and hours. After pure domination, I take a break, but seem to always come back. The game simply has everything you need to enjoy FPS. And to the OP, YES, there are still plenty of people playing this game to date. Whether it be regular BF2 or BF2:SF, you'll find great servers out there with various settings of vehicles or infantry only. Either preference, you'll still get bad ass battles.

BF2 is the best game ever on the PC. FPS wise or vehicle wise. There's no game like it. COD is a rip off of BF2 rank systems and gun unlocks and it sucks donkey balls compared to BF2. I tried playing COD WAW and it just doesn't compare.

I just started playing it a few weeks ago. It seems like it should be a good game but the thing that annoys me is the hit registration seems to be really off. I often completely unload on someone and for whatever reason they don't die, then they fire a couple shots at me and thats the end of it. I know I can aim to because I've been playing first person shooters for years and was very good at cs:s and the ut series. I'm wondering if it has something to do with all the high ping players in the large servers.

As poorly coded as that game was/is I still love it. I was an expert chopper pilot back in the day. Haven't really played it since TF2 though.

First of all it depends on your class. If you were a class with no armor, you will get killed fast from an assault class. Also, the hit detection for person to person combat is shit in that game. It was made with vehicles in mind, the person to person combat seems "tacked on". I pretty much would use the anti-tank class with the DAO shotgun 90% of the time. That thing mows people down close range. Sniping people with the AT rocket is tough at first but so satisfying when you get good at it.

I used to play antitank kit with a DAO but I graduated and sniping is the shit. 200-400 yards out you snipe people in the head with 1 quick shot come close to my position you usually set off claymore. If my claymore didn't get you I hit you with a sniper rifle once and I finish you off with my pistol or knife. DAO is only good for close range for bum rushing people but not much else.

Azn is right, you can compare them. Sadly the whole COD series went down the tubes after COD:UO. Man, they did have a great multiplayer setup there with Base Assault. COD 2 was pure crap and after that, I just played them for its single player campaign. Never touched anything after 3... :thumbsdown:

To me you can't because one has vehicles and is a lot older and has immensly larger maps and the other doesn't.
