Is BF2 a FPS?

Nope, it's an MMORPG.

You choose what role you want to play (sniper, medic, etc.) then the better you do, the more levels you go up.

It's also an RTS, as in commander mode you get a top-down view of the battlefield, directing the troops that way.

Oh yeah, it's also a racing game. Just the sole objective is to destroy the other vehicles.

An FPS?? What are you saying?

You know, that'd be a damn cool game I think. Level 50 Grenadier with Gloves of Throwing+5!

i don't regard it as a FPS, because I mainly play tanks/plane, or any other vehicle. I just can't stand being on foot in that game. You're basically cannon fodder when on foot.

Its an FPS. It does not quality as an MMOFPS or MMORPG because it doesn't have enough people. A true MMO will have hundreds of thousands of players, the 64 of BF2 hardly qualifies.

I think its more in the same genre as sims, you play your character, make him gain new skills, make friends, get a raise, buy expension packs

It's an MMO played in the FPS style. I wouldn't call it an RPG; based upon what I've seen, there isn't really enough depth there to be considered in that genre.
