Is "beloved patriot" a derogatory term if I use it from one Asian to another?

is "n!gger" a derogatory term when used by one african american to refer to another?

many younger might say no. many older might say yes. its only derogatory or not in the eye of the beholder.

I'm friends with a Korean kid, and he uses it alot. Gets a lot of stares in public, which sometimes can be funny as hell. Anyways, I'd say if you aren't sure if it's offensive, don't take the chance of using it.

I'd be offended. Even if it was a Chinese person saying it to another Chinese person.

Assuming you are black (which is a HUGE assumption baised on your avatar) what about the "N" word said to another black? Or African American, or whatever the correct term is? (must admit, I am not PC. not even close. but I try not to offend people who do not deserve it )

I'm mixed heritage and it took a while to get used to slurs as terms of endearment. In the end, it's not the words it's how they are used.

True, and that makes it harder, if the person is offended it's derogatory to him...

Personally I still would be offended regardless of age. It's just how I was raised. Like ElFenix said, it's in the eye of the beholder.

does the white man get offended every time someone says more crackers at Gold Star Chili?

People need to grow some more skin theys aint thick enough.

I have never been called that by another Asian but I probably would be a little offended if it did happen.

if i knew you and you called me 'beloved patriot', i wouldn't care. if i didn't know you, i'd just think you were an idiot.

*plays STP's "Crackerman"*

The "N" has transcended the younger generation. Blacks say it to blacks. Whites to whites. Asian to whites. Asian to asian. Mix that up and you have everybody calling each other 'n!gger.' That's an urban phrase now. However, it's is totally unacceptable for an older person to say it, at least it (isn't) is to me.

I am offended just by reading the title and the fact you even asked. You know it's offensive. It has always been a derogatory term. It makes no difference if it's one "Asian to another" or if it is used by anything other than a stand up comic, and that is pushing it as well.
