Just because youre smart, doesnt mean youre a geek.

And the answer to your question is:

D. All of the above

The majority of geeks/nerds are geeky and or nerdy looking. i.e. normal men and woman can spot a geek/nerd a mile away.

i don't look geeky, but try talking to me for over 2 minutes, and something about computers is bound to pop into the conversation :p

That's in insanely ignorant statement. You could not tell 1/2 the people I work with are geeks. You couldn't tell I'm a geek based on my looks.

I believe, in most things, nature > nurture. As people living in existential societies (for the most part), it's hard for many of us to believe that anything - much less most things - in our lives are beyond our control... but the more research is done the more significant we're finding the role our genes play in our lives is. Not to say environment doesn't play a role, it certainly does. Just a lesser one than most think or would like to think.

I'm a geek and don't look it. But I also like sports, cars, and cooking. You wouldn't be able to tell that just by looking at me either.

Sometimes, it's nice to actually get to know someone instead of making assumptions based upon their appearance.

ETA: And to the OP, it wasn't a result of my environment or raising that's for sure. I was just always interested in the 'geeky' stuff. So I suppose genetics....

Don't let your kids play with kids who are geeks - or have parents who are geeks.

The lengths these geeks will go to in order to recruit your child into their filthy lifestyle are truly disgusting :D

It's a little of both. The intelligence is genetic. The ability to harness it in a geeky way is learned. And looking like a dweeb is genetic.
