see this a lot at work, especially the women managers seem to go out of their way to back into any spot, even when its way more laborious than just pulling in forward and then backing out to leave

Peeing on your parking spot would be the power move.

Backing into your parking spot is just a way of saying you have a fancy new car with one of those rear cameras.

Depends on the parking lot too I guess.

Has never been an issue here, I usually just park front first.

Some industries require backing in for all cars (chemicals, oil fields, etc).

So you can GTFO in case of fire.

I prefer backing in to parking spaces because it's safer than having to back out later.

With most vehicles coming with rear view cameras, and parking lines built in, it's really easier to back in than pull in forward these days.

I always back up because there is no advantage in not doing so. Unless you can't drive.

EDIT: I suppose I drive in if I know I'm loading up in the trunk.

My parking spot a work (teal car with sunroof at dead center)-Google maps end of 2013. I pull in from the opposite side of parking spot and park, no need to back up.

If you have any driving skill at all, it's easier to back into a parking spot than to pull into a parking spot - turning radius and stuff. Unless I'm mistaken, a lot of parking lots in other countries have rows too narrow for you to pull into a spot; the only way to get in is to back in.

Every time that I find a new dent in the door of my car, it is right next to someone who thought that backing in would be cool.

Backing in basically tells the world, that you are willing to fling open your car door wide, no matter what happens to be in the way, and you don't care.

At my workplace, being pull-out ready seemed to be the mindset from former military-types. I do prefer backing into busier lots, such as sporting event parking.

At least they re-configured the parking lot so we have perpendicular parking vs the guys driving the wrong direction because they refused to back out of a spot :O

This has been my experience as well, we even call it "Battle Parking".

A lot of our Filipino employees do it (moreso the females than the males). Not sure if there's anything to that, just an observation.

I usually front in. Mostly because I usually am one of the last few out of the parking lot, so backing out is a non-issue.

I always back in the parking spots and my driveway. For parking spots I usually just find ones where I can pull in to the next, because I'm lazy. No backing up required at all for those. :p Makes it easier to get out especially in winter. I don't really need to back into my driveway in summer but I just do it out of habit.

My parking lot has signs that say not to park rear-end first. Nobody pays attention to them and it's not enforced, but I've always wondered why even have the restriction in the first place.

In the winter I maybe can see why because some guys in pickups start parking in ways that take up more than one spot which really throws everyone else off.
