is babysitting a 'girly' job?

Say you're a guy, around 15-18 yrs old, and you had the opportunity to babysit some kids. The pay is pretty good (for a high school kid), like $10-12/hr, no tax, usually plenty of food in the pantry. What do you think? Not suitable for guys?

There's something wrong with it if the one you're babysitting is a little girl. Unless the parents really trust you, I don't see that happening.

If it's a couple boys it's not so bad...you just sit around and play video games with them for 4 hours. That's what I did a couple times in high school. Toss in a couple pizzas and play Mario Cart or Smash Brothers till it's bed time. Then you just pop in a movie until the parents get back.

Easy $20.

i babysat, but then girls kept getting abducted and shown on the news, so whenever i'd call and reply to a babysitting ad in the paper, i was always turned down because i'm a guy and they think i want to steal their kids, etc. or something.

yeap.

once i got a reputation among the parents around here they started trusting me. but getting that first 1 or two people to let you watch the kids is hard.
