I just downloaded AVG antivirus and I must say that I really like the interface and the fact that it's only using 1208k of memory, but how reliable is this product at actually catching viruses?

I've never used it but i've heard plenty of good things about it on the About.com AV forums.

I've been using it for about 3 months now...I love it and it so easy to use. It has caught a couple of viruses already. I give it 2 thumbs up!

I tried it and thought it worked great... but at one point it told me a file contained a virus that I was sure couldn't have, so I installed my NAV 2002 patched it up and checked, it said the file was clean... I don't know what the deal was, but as far as I know nobady else that DL'd the same file from the same place reported it containing a virus....., I'm not at all saying it's bad... but it made me wonder.

here's a question for all that has it working: I tried the install, and checked the option to have the " certified virus free" signature included in all my in/ out emails. I tried sending a couple of test emails to my 2nd email address, and they never have the signature , and I see no signs of an inbound/ outbound scan being done. Any clues??

resinboy... You need to attach a file to the email to get the "certified" stamp.

so unlike NAV, you won't actually see a splash screen, but just a stamp on the message, and ONLY if there is an attachment??

Right. No splash screen. Without a file attached there's nothing to certify, right?

You can set it up to either certify incoming attachments or outgoing attachments. Or both.
