is "auto" setting = stock setting for CPU voltage?

I am messing with OCing my CPU, but I heard that if you go above stock voltage, your CPU life will go down. If I have the voltage on "auto" on my mobo (P4P800-D), is this equivalent to stock setting or do I have to manually set it to stock voltage? Btw, my CPU is a 2.8 P4C and my RAM is Corsair XMS 2x512 MB 3200LL

Yes, auto=stock. But bumping up your voltage slightly won't really affect your CPU life, either, man. Did you know that Intel builds their CPUs to have a 10 year lifespan? You should be able to hit at least 3.2 Gig, and probably 3.5, if you put a good heatsink on it. Hey, I wonder if my first 286 is still in use somewhere?!?

yes, auto = stock. Going above stock isn't dangerous as long as you keep under 1.7v though.
