I know this is a repost, but I hope the mods will allow this ONE special exception:

I spent a few hours today analyzing video footage of a North Korean forced-labor camp, which was broadcast last week on Japanese TV, and covered on Reuters and MSNBC. I created a brief picture analysis, and included a link to a site which has several first-hand accounts of escapees from North Korea's forced-labor camps, as well as detailed satellite photographs.

To this day, North Korea continues to deny the existence of an estimated 100,000 - 150,000 political prisoners, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

For those that doubt the existence of forced-labor camps in North Korea, please take the time to view the video clip, and read through the accompanying links.

Thanks!

Four out of Five Capital Offenses are political offenses? Sheezh....

On the plus side, they only have 40,000 religious "believers." :) j/k

We are talking about a seriously repressive regime. Almost as bad as Guantanamo Bay.... :)

I wrote a long time ago that if Bush didn't go after Iraq for oil, the euro, and other economic reasons......there was no reason why he shouldn't be going after N. Korea.

Could it be that we can't possibly go after EVERY single wrong doer in the world? Could it be that we have to pick our battles? No, that would make too much sense...

Please tell me that's sarcasm...it's Monday morning, I can't tell.

Did not see the smiley...

Still has a ways to go before he reaches the Bolshevik Revolution numbers...

Why isn't the UN screaming about humanity rights and doing something about Ding Dong IL...Whoops I forgot, no oil reserves in North Korea

Of course I saw it, but I've learned that isn't always an accurate indicator of sarcasm here. When in doubt, ask.

Out of sight, out of mind, lot of that in the UN.

Kage, et al:

Just a little Monday humor. I DID put a smiley on it.

No, we aren't as repressive as North Korea...yet. Leave Ashcroft in much longer and all bets are off though.

Perhaps you should consider the relative threat that Iraq and North Korea posed to us. If we attacked NK, we were certain that they would nuke the U.S. On the other hand, there was a relatively small chance we would have been nuked, or received any attack at all, as a result of attacking Saddam Hussein.

Either way, it's pretty difficult to assign levels of tyranny. Once someone reaches the level of evil dictator, he/she is just as bad as the others.

Yes, I also questioned when we would be going in to "liberate" Africa. Not that Hussein was innocent, but he couldn't hold a candle to the repressive regimes and warlords of Africa.
