Is arctic honestly worth getting?

I recently purchased two p4c800-e deluxes and two p4 2.4 800 mhz processors and I would like to know if you guys think that arctic is actually worth getting or using.... over the thermal pad that comes with the processor/fan. And if so... which compound would you recommend.

Another Question concerning the the hole on the side of my case...which i still havent gotten a tracking number on yet....whole nother can of worms...
Is that hole to be used as an intake or and exaust and is it designed for the processor or video card? just curious

It's definitely worth it over the pad, or the white goo that comes with a lot of heatsinks.

My honest recommendation on what premium grease to get is:

The cheapest and easiest one to buy.

I like AS3, it's easy to spread, pretty easy to clean up. Only thing is you need to not go crazy with it, as it is conductive. But there are lots of other good choices.

Most people use that as an intake, and it just kinda shoots at whatever it happens to line up with. You can duct it to get right to your CPU if you want tho

AS3 is not easy to clean, you need some pretty strong stuff to clean it, ie. acetone or highly concetrated isopryl alcohol. If you get AS3 smeared on lets say a athlon xp chip on the pcb surface, its pretty hard to completely remove all of it. A good substitute to AS3 is AS ceramique, it supposedly performs just as good and is easy to clean up.

Well, AS3 is easy to get off of the things that you are supposed to put it on... and I have had no problems with just under the sink rubbing alcohol for cleaning it up. I hesitate to recommend ceramique because it is a bit harder to spread.
