Yes, but I am a SGS2 owner....

Well, be honest with you, given that I wasn't gifted an iPhone 4, and I had to purchase a new phone out of my own pocket, I would choose the SGS2 too.

My stance with regard to iOS vs Android would slant toward iOS, but I can't deny that there is a big price premium there that is really hard to swallow, and especially in this economy.

It's the same reason why I wouldn't upgrade to the iPhone 4S.

If this is true, it's not good for Apple. You know what I've found that old people like? Huuuuuge screens. Pixel density is for young people. As you get older, lower dpi (larger characters & icons) is actually a feature.

True dat. I had to rip my SGS2 out of my old man's hands. "Wow, the screen is so much nicer than my iPhone (4)"

I think only Steve really preferred small extreme density screens. For once what he wanted was not what the market wants.

they should have at least changed the form factor or the color. a lot of apple user like to flaunt their appleness and if you cant visibly tell the difference between a 4 and a 4s how are these people going to let everyone know they have a 4s if it looks exactly the same as the 4

Sounds like the iPad is a godsend.

No, but seriously, I'd think that for old people who really care that much about larger screens, a device with larger screen such as a tablet would serve better than a phone.

If that's what they are banking on for the wow factor, the iPhone has jumped the shark. There is no way to not look like a dork talking to your phone/computer.

Sitting at a desk, or walking around in public, sure.

In the car- voice control is truly awesome. It's one thing where I always thought Android stomped all over Apple. My phone in my car is like having a sync system- I just tell my phone what artist/album/track to play, where to navigate to, who I want to call or SMS, and what text to SMS. (Granted, I try not to do too much of the later while actually moving.)

It'll be interesting to see what Apple's take on voice control is like. If it's better than Android (and I bet it will be) then it's a no-brainer for in the car. The only thing that'll blow is all the iPhonies pretending that Apple came up with it first, as if I and millions of others haven't been driving around using this technology for some time now.

In general, iPhones make me yawn. They definitely aren't special anymore. How can something be all that drool-worthy when even people's 8 year olds that I know have them? I predict that 8GB $99 iPhone 4 will make the things more common than underwear.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy 2S is the first phone in a long time that's actually made me envious of its owners. Now THAT is one hell of a drool-worthy phone, the iPhone has NOTHING on it. I'm actually pissed at Verizon for not carrying it, and for the first time ever, I'm contemplating switching carriers just to get my hands on one. (Plus the fact that I think Verizon's decision not to carry the SG2S is part of their ongoing effort to limit the functionality of devices on their network- so why have the best hardware when you're going for mediocre?)

Well, it's a survey. I don't think old people are likely to participate in surveys. Do you?

Actually older people are MORE likely to participate in surveys. From Pew's FAQ:

. This method of selecting respondents within each household improves participation among young people who are often more difficult to interview than older people because of their lifestyles.

Us young people have better things to do than take a survey- like debating on a web forum. I learned this when I was a telemarketer- old people were the best customers because they were just so happy a real person called them on the phone to break up the monotony of their lives.

Wait until after next Tuesday before you get too pissed at Verizon. If everything we've heard about Nexus Prime is true, it's going to rock your world.

I think Apple is refocused on volume and sales rather than the bleeding edge.

Just like the iPad isn't geared towards the typical AT poster, honestly, neither is the iPhone. Despite the "antenna problems" of the iP4, it's the best selling smartphone ever. Apple is the largest smartphone manufacturer ever.

What Apple looses in sales to the tech elite, it will make 100 X more by selling a cheaper pre paid version of the iPhone in B,I,C (Brazil, India, China) that many here wouldn't be caught dead with. Think of smartphone sales as the game of Risk, and AT members are Madagascar, nice to have, but not necessary to win the game.

They'll poop out an iPhone 5 next year, and blow everyone away again.

Seriously, how many people do you all know that are still rocking an iPhone 3GS or dumbphones? I know a ton of them. I guess I'm playing apologist for Apple over the stupid phone, LOL... While I own a ThunderBolt and keep screwing with new radios and live on the bleeding edge with LTE, buggy software and a giant battery :D

Apple users are going to go nuts over Siri.

You're right- in my blind SGS2 envy, the Prime wasn't even on my radar.

I can't wait to see this thing unveiled.

Yep, however, this is more like a tech survey where you only have to answer which devices you own.

I'm quite certain us young people, who like debates, are more likely to participate than old people. Unless we don't even care enough about tech to do such a thing. In which case, I guess the majority of polls in this forum are filled out by people older than you and me.
