IS anything DRAMATICALLY new coming out between now and December?

I am asking this question because I'm upgrading my current p3 550Mhz to an AMD solution this December.
But first, let me elaborate:

Is anything new in the AMD market coming out between now and December as far as kicker motherboards/chipsets?

The reason im asking is because im looking at what to buy now, and I don't want to buy it on December 15 and have something better out on December 20.

Do you think manafacturers will start rushing their new developments now so they are in time for Christmas?
I've heard about the nForce. But will it be as great as we say it will be?
What is so great about it?

Is it so great because when you put all the components onto the motherboard they give you much better performance and FPS in games?

Just a few questions a concerned buyer should know.

Thanks

Once November comes, manufacturers usually do not come out with any great new products until after the holiday season. Most gifts are bought in late November/early December. Thus to prepare ads, the products must be released by early November.

Example: A computer company (such as Dell) may start heavily advertizing the 2.0 GHz P4 right about now. If Intel released the 2.2 GHz P4 in December, the big companies will be quite angry that their commercials no longer advertize the best from Intel. Thus Intel recently annouced that the 2.2 GHz P4 will not have a major release before January.

True, some companies will break this rule-of-thumb. The majority won't.

The best part of the nForce is the built in graphics and sound. Believe it or not many people don't buy a add-on video card. Thus this is a huge performance boost for this population segment. If you choose to buy the latest/greatest video card then the nForce is a waste in my opinion.

The new motherboards for AMD platforms will be out now b/w now and the Christmas.
Boards like much anticiplated Abit KR7A/KR7A-RAID, Asus A7V266-E and boards based on nForce chipsets.
There you have much more variety to choose from.

I agree with j@cko.

Most of those boards should be widely available before Xmas...hopefully by the end of this month. ASUS started to ship out their A7V266-E mobos 2 days ago.

Ummm.... DRAMATICALLY reduced prices??

You should be able to get a fast AMD cpu by the end of the year for well under $200, as long as you don't go with the latest and greatest.

You can buy a fast AMD processor right now for about $150 🙂
