Is anyone using Motorola Phone Tools 4.0 or higher?

Yeah I've only got the h4x0red version of 3.11h (I refuse to pay for syncing functionality that SyncML/Bluetooth Sync profile would've provided FREE had Motorola just put either one in the damn phone.)

Its a hit or miss with MPT. My Razr connected to my phone just fine for the first couple days, then I started having problems. Whenever I try and browse through the phones files or send something to it, the phone disconnects.

I've had the same problems--I gave up on syncing over bluetooth (never got it to work; don't think it ever will) but even with a USB cable it has issues. This is completely retarted IMHO. What would happen if your PDA stopped syncing? When you buy a PDA, do you have to "pay extra" for the ability to sync? My SE T616 synced perfectly with Outlook via Bluetooth without requiring a single piece of 3rd-party software...and that phone is like 3 years old.

BCYL, Did you do anything special during the MPT install? I have tried every which way to install it, and have tried my desktop and laptop, but I cannot get it to recognize my V-557. I get an error that Windows gives me when the install is over that says "The USB device is not recognized". I have a valid MPT 4.0 CD and Motorola USB cable.... My USB 2.0 ports work fine with everything else....

Never had so much trouble installing software in 25 years of computer usage.....

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Bob

Its been a while since I FIXED my V710, from the features that Verizon turned off.. but I recall that the newer version of MPT didn't work for me, an older worked better (3.11??)

I got it. Its quite flaky for downloading pictures off the phone.. tends to loose its connection. I've read similar reports on other forums on the Razr V3c. Haven't tried anything else with it though I read its just that action, other upload/downloading is fine (?? ).

Seems like a piece of crap and unreliable software.

edit: That and it seems you need to set the Razr V3c as a V710m to get it to work.

Has anyone had any luck with the V3m phones? Mine syncs with the phonebook and address just fine but it seems the multimedia options are turned off. Verizon said it shipped with those options on although I didn't get the vcast package. The MPT version I have is fully updated.

I can't get my Razr v3m to be recognized. I tried Mobile Phone Tools 3.11h, the newest release of BitPim, and QPST Explorer 2.7. I can't figure out why any of these applications can't recognize my phone.

I read in a few forums where the cheap knock-off data cables were at fault. I haven't tried an original Motorola cable yet to find out.....

By the way -- I've used some aftermarket data cables before, and have had issues with them. I'm currently using a Motorola data cable with my v325, and MPT4.1.something. It works very reliably, haven't had any problem with it at all. :)
