If you want to do anything besides games and watch movies on it you better get a 1080p set.

Unless you are damn near blind that is.

But the 720p makes reading a game. Is that a e or an a? I will never know.

I use a 26" Westinghouse 720p as a PC monitor. It works fine as long as I drive it at the native resolution (1360x768 or so).

Note, since cost is a factor a 32" 1080p HDTV are considerably more expensive (probably around $600+)than the 720p ones. Microcenter had a 32" 1080p Sceptere HDTV for $399 during Black Friday.

Why not get an actual computer monitor? You can pick up 24" versions for often under 400 bucks.

About 1.5 years ago, I hooked up my PC to my then-new 32" Vizio that I had just mounted in my home office. I could never get it to look right.

Since I was not going to use it as my monitor anyway, I gave up after about an hour.

Good luck.

24 =/= 32

30 inch computer monitor = 1000 dollars

32 inch tv/computer monitor = 500 dollars

I have never seen how bug 1080p on a 32 is though sooooo

I personally hate it when I use a computer with a tv screen as the monitor.

There is a reason why 30" monitors are 2560x1600. Keeping the computer up to date to play current games isn't as big a problem though, that resolution would bring computers to their knees.

I use a Sony 32 inch KDL-S3000 as a computer monitor (1360x768 res) and it works great. Text is really sharp. The downside is the small real estate that the low resolution provides.

Yeah... I've tried this before on a 32" 720p LCD TV, and I wasn't a fan of the results. ClearType font smoothing seems to help a bit, but things looked a bit too jagged to really be enjoyable to view.

My 40" 1080p Sony Bravia TV makes an awesome monitor, though!

Trust me. You don't want 1366x768 on a huge 32" screen. It is not enjoyable. The only reason to hook up a computer to a 1366x768 HDTV would be to watch videos on.

37" Westinghouse 1080P LCDs usually come up every so often in the $550 range... I'd use my 20" 1680x1050 LCD over a 720P LCD..

I did my 42" vizio @ 1366x768 for a while. It was okay for gaming and such. Web browsing, etc just sucked badly though, not enough screen realestate. That and I couldn't use the HDMI otherwise it'd put it at 720p and make everything look ugly.

About to get rid of my 3rd Vizio since May. Each has developed serious issues within the span of 1-2 months. Sucks because the image quality on the one I have now (42'' 120Hz 1080p XVT model) is outstanding.

I'm never buying Vizio again, nor recommending them.
