I have 3 phones on Straight Talk, you can do all of the above, just install a watchdog program so you don't go over, and they get upset...
Theoretically: 2GB/month, 100MB/day.Go over what? What is the limit of the "unlimited"?
I don't care about losing my number since I never ported it to them in the first place. That's what Google Voice is for. I have nothing to lose. There's a guy that said he regularly goes over 100MB a day, up to like a few hundred (2-300MB)/day.
come to think of it I think I am going to stop worrying about mine so much and try doing that once and see what happens...maybe... its just nobody wants to lose their number.
Just don't stream Netflix or Pandora and you should be fine.
For streaming audio it's important to find a 64kbps aacp or ogg stream (they sound good enough IMHO) to avoid racking up the data. They will cut you if they want, and you will lose the money for that month and your phone number. I bought a year's worth of service though... I wonder what they would do to me...

If I remember, I will try this in April when my service expires. If they cut me off, worst case scenario I order a new sim from them and reactivate. No one knows my Straight Talk number... Hell, even I don't know what it is.
You don't get any meaningful special discount for buying a years worth of service over 3 months. I'm not sure why people keep doing that.
Its much easier to set up straight talk and port your number now. This has gotten me interested. How's the service/speed/coverage compared to ATT? Other than having to buy an unsubsidized phone, are there any drawbacks?
