Is anyone OCD like me and just can't have unread messages?

So I have a weird obsession with marking every message I have in my gmail, outlook, phone, RSS reader, facebook notications, etc. read, even if it's spam and not worth reading at all.

It then really bothers when I see someone open their inbox up and there are messages that are unread. No matter how worthless it is or how unnecessary it is to open mark it as read, I just can't have something that's not being read..anyone else this way?

That's not OCD. Cleaning your apartment 5 times a day is OCD.

I am, can't stand unread messages.

I don't read ones I know are crap though, just check them and do 'mark as read'

If it's spam, I delete it right away unopened. Otherwise I read it. But yeah, I hate having unopened, undeleted, unread messages sitting around. If I get the "You have X new messages" window, I want them to be NEW.

I hate messages that are marked as unread... kinda. I used to hate having any unread messages, so I would read everything (or just delete it, if its junk), and that would be that. I forced myself to get over that, by marking messages unread when there is something in the message that I still have to address. For example, if I get an email from some company reminding me that my bill is available online, or that a payment is due, I'll read the message, and then mark it as unread until I've paid the bill. I just remember how many messages are marked as unread in each folder, and if the number increments, I attack it like an angry bulldog. Note that this also provides more motivation to me to address issues, bills, anything really, than I think anything else ever has -- because I'll have a "clean" mailbox when everything is taken care of. :D

Fack that...too much spam to bother. But considering it's gmail, I don't even bother opening/cleaning that folder unless I don't receive something I was expecting (which has never happened). I also have an "Adds" folder, to which plenty of adds and notices I've intentionally signed up for are filtered....I seldom look in there as well.

At work, I read every e-mail I get ASAP and try to reply ASAP, even if it's a "I'll get to you later" note. I hate it when others take two days to even acknowledge my notes...

I can't stand having unread messages. Especially because it just seems so unclean when my little Gmail icon thingy keeps flashing blue.

My friend has over 1500 unread messages 0_o

as far as my inbox is concerned, I either read it immediately or trash it... I don't read things that I trash, and I'll just empty my trash folder every couple days.

if something gets plonked into a filter, I let it sit there for a bit depending on what it is (crap like mailing lists I'll just sit down and read all at once like once a week)

Same. I do it with text messages which sucks because it actually costs money. Just kind of a weird habit I guess.

I am like that too, but I don't think it's OCD. I just like having an empty inbox. What about archiving messages in Gmail? It's the whole point of having all the storage space and search in Gmail, but a lot of people I know have never archived any messages.
