The hypersim unlocked Japanese cell phone such as Softbank Sharp 932sh, 933sh, 934sh, 935sh, Docomo Sharp SH-04A, SH-06A, SH-07A, etc.

A little story about hypersim:

The term ?hypersim? originated from the Taiwanese company iNEX when it first attempted to unlock iPhone 3G with its innovative sim card technology. Coincidentally, this new sim card technology also surprisingly unlock Japanese cell phones; hence iNEX continued to develop hypersim for Japanese cell phones (Softbank and Docomo).

Since Softbank and Docomo cell phones have different locking mechanism, iNEX developed a Softbank version hypersim and also a Docomo version hypersim. A lot of Chinese companies are trying to sell the duplicates of the early version of iNEX hypersim to make profits. Eventually, the cellphone market in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong are full of unreliable iNEX hypersim duplicates.

There is a reason why the price difference between iNEX hypersim and its duplicates is so huge. It is because iNEX is continuously developing and updating its technology, such as finding a way to make 3G calling service fully available, increasing signal stability and enhancing signal reception, etc.

Pros of the unlocked high end Japanese cell phone in United States:

The camera is close to those standard DC, a lot of them have 8.0mp (932SH, SH-03A) to 10.0mp (933SH, SH-06A) CCD lenses (those model are made by Sharp).

The main display is usually around 3.0 to 3.3 inches, with the resolution of 864x480, which is greater than HD 480P. Also these phones can play H.264 or mpg4 video. With the virtual 5.1 surround sound technology from Yamaha, they are literally mobile media center.

They support upto 16 micro sdhc; also they are very light, usually about 130-150g with battery, much lighter than any DC or PMP.

They have slick designs that are eyes catching, great for showing off.

Cons of the unlocked high end Japanese cell phone in United States:

The hypersim fully unlocks the 2g network function, and partially unlocks 3g function. So in 2g network, you can use the phone just like any other phone; but in 3g network, you can only call out without the ability to receive calls.

The internet browsing doesn't work due to network problem.

Not every cell phone service provider is compatible with hypersim. For example, Verizon and Sprint users can not use any unlocked high end Japanese cell phone at all.

The price of those unlocked high end Japanese cell phones is quite high.

Finallly, I want to know what do you guys think about them :)

Docomo SH-06A 1

Docomo SH-06A 2

Docomo SH-06A 3

Docomo SH-06A 4

Softbank 932SH

Ive looked, but the high cost (plus Im with a CDMA carrier right now) allways scared me away. I know Howard Forums has a Japanese phone forum, but Ive only checked it out a time or two. I was reading something the other day about that people in Japan expect so much out of their phones because they use them for everything. The majority of people over there dont have PCs at home, their cell phone is it. Thats one of the reasons the iPhone has been a total failure in Japan (Apple may be pulling out of the market there), because it requires syncing w/ itunes.

I think that right there is a deal killer. A very high priced phone that cannot connect to the internet or receive calls in a 3G network, kind of defeats the point doesn't it?

I think those phones are ass ugly. Hardly stylish, which isn't what I look for anyway.

If I can't receive calls on the 3g network then it's not something I'd ever think of using. The only thing the jap phones have that I like are nice cameras with full optical zoom.
