I don't get the people who say that nothing matters, because we're all just dust anyway. The sun will eventually suck in the earth. What we do doesn't matter. Even our grand achievements will all eventually crumble into the earth, etc. It's true. But I believe that we need to some something to look forward too.

The thing is if you trully practice nihilism than why do anything worthwhile? Why go to school? Work? Attend college? Have a family. Make money, etc.. We are all going to die anyway. I'd like to think that life has some meaning. You could argue that nothing has meaning, because in the end everything vanishes and dies. Jordan Peterson, clinical psychologist whose currently very popular on YT has stated that that are many more nihilistic young people than ever before. I wonder why?

Nihilism is silly to me because, yes, you are basically nothing in grand scheme of things, but that has nothing to do with you.

You were born into existence in this world with your own eyes, ears, and all the wonderful sensory experience-rs.

You get to feel breeze in your face, hear trains whistling in summer night, gaze at the stars with your daughter, cry during heartbreaks, cry harder at joyous moments, and so much more.

I challenge you. Go one degree deeper. Nothing matters means nothing to you actually. You are here to experience everything in this world.

You are a product of our universe, and you are the universe. You are literally universe experiencing itself.

Also nihilism can be a sign of depression. It's a classic sign (lack of motivation, lethargic, increasing apathy)

Good point. Usually the people who say that they are nihilistic are normally in a bad spot in life.

If anyone dresses and acts like these guys, they might be a nihilist...

I'll say that as I've gotten older, I've become numb to a lot of feelings and generally don't "care" as much about things as I used to, but I think I've just become apathetic. It's likely due to depression.

These days it's probably easy to see the world as crap and nothing mattering much, especially if you spend all of your time on social media and keep up with the news. A good hike usually solves that.

I had to look up what nihilism meant and it seems it can be exactly what you are getting at.

It doesn't have to mean "Life has no meaning so I'm just going to sit here".

I think it can be "Life has no meaning so I'm free".

The Sun won't swallow the Earth in your lifetime or any of the lifetimes of the Human species. It's pointless to let something with no affect on You to make you a nihilist.

Life doesn't have to have meaning to enjoy it. Instead of getting wound up over stupid shit, you say "fuck it" and move on. Like Humpy said it frees you. It's the next evolutionary step after dumping nonsense like religion.
