No, didn't you read the book? We've reached the end of history, no point studying it anymore.

No offense, but a post like yours seems like one from a 100- post noob. What do you want to know? Is History as a major any good?

I'm planning on working for CA (Total War Series) with my knowledge, also hope to get a degree from GuildHall. After that, I intend to work for ensemble studios. So there you have it.

Are you serious? Not to put you down, but that seems pretty ambitious.

lawyer? what kind of lawyer?

can you specialize in a certain area or areas of history or is it all pretty general? if you want to specialize, do you have to find a school that does that specialization?

I'm a history major...

I'm also an anthropology major...

I'm looking at Cultural Resource Management and archeology with concentrations in linguistics, ancient-near east studies, and classical history...

You can, and most majors do, specialize. I know a guy who is specialized in Carribean slavery, but he specialized in a ~40 time span. It's crazy. I think you have to specialize really.

Really you want to find a school with a good history program (a lot of schools in VA kick a$$ in history departments.), but you won't find a school that has a great specialized program...

You could specialize in the history of a specific country, or religion, or region.

What parts? History majors really aren't given enough credit. A lot of CEOs are history majors because we can write really well. I took 2 history APs and made 4s on both, making the highest grade possible on the DBQs. I plan on teaching archeology or doing it.

I majored in history (and economics) as an undergrad. Did a short two year investment banking stint at Goldman Sachs and just recently started in the history PhD program at Yale. Most of my friends from undergrad who majored in history went straight to grad school, others did Teach for America, and a couple ended up going into finance (hedge funds/IB's). Get a good GPA and trust me you will have many, many options regardless of your major.

I have a friend who double majored in History and Geography. He's pretty much only using the Geography degree now, working in the GIS field.
