I'm trying to get a PXE server running (with Altiris and the Proliant Integration Module) but it's just finicky as hell.
I've manged to get it to work now and again on different boxes at different times, but never consistently and usually after multiple reinstalls.
Has anyone got this to work reliably? I'm just put off by the whole concept of PXE because it doesn't seem to work half as well as advertised.
Also, I was installing F5s Big-IP software on one of the blades, and that used a self booting CD that started a PXE server to install it from. Sounds simple, but it took three separate machines (all with the same motherboard, nic, etc.) before one would actually serve up the PXE info correctly, off the same CD.
The whole thing just doesn't make any sense to me.
