I was going to play AoC then it got delayed twice... in the meantime I got hooked on LOTRO. I don't really even play any other video games now. My gaming time goes to Lotro.

If other folks think AoC is really fantastic then I might try it... but is it as some serious work to pull users from wow and lotro.

Unfortunately DX10 is not in yet, although that may change in the next major update.

For those who are interested in it, you can sign up for the PvP Stress Test April 18-20 from Gamespot. Have another 4 days or so to sign up and get one of the 15,000 keys available.

Everyone else who was signed up for this weekend's Tech Test should make sure you're fully updated. Check your e-mail for instructions but its a good idea to start now if you haven't, as patch servers are going to be slammed today and tomorrow.

You know, you don't have to play MMOs 24/7. The argument that you just don't have time anymore really makes no sense if you are playing other games as well. Now, if you have the personality that causes you to get sucked in and drool out of the side of your mouth when unable to play then that's a different story. :p

I've been eagerly anticipating this game for a long time. I:'ve stopped playing WoW since the xpack msotly because I didn't liek the direction of the endgame.

Funcom has created some epic games I really liked: Anarchy Online- Tower Wars, and game I hated: Anarchy Online- Shadowlands. I've always been able to tell how sucessful a game would be within the first 2 days I've played it. I figure I'll get a mammoth ifI preorder( Funcom has a history of giving big rewards ingame for preordering) and if I don't like the game I can sell it.

while, no you do not have to play an mmorpg 24/7 , they require huge amounts of time to get the true enjoyment out of these games.

I do not know if I have the time anymore, priorities have changed. Everybodys life and schedule is different but for me, I see my life as many phases.

The College years through my first real employment was the prime age for MMORPGS. Not that I wasn't busy but I was MUCH younger, and School allows late late nights of gaming with your friends far more than when you are rooted in an important Job Career.

I was 22 when I got out of school, got married when I was 23. Those were the days. I could do so much and not get tired. I would not think twice about playing till 1:00am then going to work.

Now I am 33, and 8 hours of work takes alot more out of me. Plus we own a house, just alot of work.

If you play an mmorpg once in a while, maybe 2 hours at a time - you are probably playing the game solo. to have fun with a guild, meet and maintain relationships, participant in events takes bare minimum 5 hour game sessions.

For long I kept waiting for the right mmorpg to come out, when in reality its not the games, its my life that wont let me enjoy these games like I used to.

After Babbling all that I will still buy it and try it :)

I'm in the same boat as you other than age (31 here). The 5 hour thing is usually thrown out there but really is not accurate for everyone. Our guild is working on MH/BT currently and we raid for 3 hours a night 3 days a week. The hours are extended on the weekend for our 4th night to basically just go until people don't feel like it anymore. We take longer to get through the content than the hard core guilds but most people can devote 3 hours a night for at least 2 out of 4 raid nights so it has been a non issue. This group is the best fit I've ever found for a person in our type of situation.

Basically, I'm just saying that the idea of raiding taking up your entire out of work RL time is really not true in all cases. You just have to find the right fit for your time.

I'm 21. I'm graduating soon and my grad school doesn't start till august of 2009. Time to play AoC non-stop and become one of the first ones to be 80. Hopefully, unlike my fellow Koreans, I won't die from playing video games.

Beer is the only thing that got me through leading all those tedious kara runs in WoW.
