I saw this claimed performance booster and would like to know if anyone is familiar with it and is it worth $29.00? Also, a sister program, Modem Booster is available. This is a McAfee Special Partner - which may offer some credibility. Thanks! .Product Link

Popular Mechanics (ok, not the most credible source, but Kim Komando did the article and she's got her own tech radio show) did a comparison of the internet boosters (The modem booster type thing) and found that none really make a difference. There's some tweaks you can do yourself, but the info is all freely availble on the internet.

As far as boosting your PC speed, there's lots of articles on that in magazines and online. The easiest way to speed up your pc is to clear out the stuff in your system tray (stuff like music match, the aol quick start, the Sound Blaster control panel, etc) all hog resources, and are usually not needed. Of course, check the software documentation to be sure, but I've found that removing them leads to a nice increase in system speed.

don't waste your money on it. Its better to learn to tweak your system yourself other than relying on a 3rd party program that does the same things you can do, WITHOUT spending $30+. Look around on the web, theres millions of ways you can tweak your system without paying the money to better its performance.

You can try typing in msconfig in the Run... box to start System Configuration Utility. Then go to Startup tab and uncheck unneeded items/applications. You might want to do them one by one to make sure you do not disable stuff that is really essential.

Thanks everyone. . . Common sense told me it wasn't worth the $30.00. It's good to have confirmation from others!
