Is anyone else using a VGA Silencer (rev 3) on a 9800pro All In Wonder?

When I installed my VGA Silencer on the 9800p AIW, the sound stopped working on my tv input. Sound still works fine on everything else, and video still works fine.

Is it even possible that the added heat from the VGA Silencer caused this malfunction? The Silencer heatsink extends over the front of the card now, touching the tuner, and that's a LOT of heat on the heatsink. I wonder if there could be a connection.

BTW, I took off the Silencer and put back the original HS/fan, and the sound still didn't work, then switched back again to the Silencer.

Now I'm in ATI driver hell trying to re-install everything, since I thought maybe I have a driver issue.

Well, it's listed as working with it on the SVC website. And it fits fine, it just puts a hot heatsink on top of the tv tuner.

But that's a good question - it's part of why I started this thread. I'd like to know if other people are using it successfully.

EDIT: According to this sheet (presumably from the manufacturer), version 2 and version 3 of the Silencer are compatible with the AIW:

I was asking 'cause when i got mine, i thought it was not compatable . . . . i guess this is clear enough:
ATI Radeon 9500 (Pro), 9700 (Pro), 9800 (Pro) ; not compatible to All in Wonder and XT Versions
-from Revision 2 compatible to All in Wonder versions

No idea about the heat causing issues with the tv tuner? It shouldn't be that hot. 😉

UPDATE:

This was a driver issue. After reinstalling all the drivers and software (a TREMENDOUSLY difficult process - thanks, ATI!) The tuner is working fine. The VGA Silencer works fine.

Thanks for your input, apoppin! You're a great guy, and I don't care whether you use the rolling eyes emoticon or not 😉
