Is anyone else tired of all the "baby boomer" garbage?

Seriously, there are plenty of other people in the US who aren't baby boomers, and every single day there's some news article or magazine article or TV show about baby boomer retirement or this or that. Enough already -- can we have a baby boomer cable channel where they can all sit around and talk about themselves 24/7?

What set me off was that the last issue of Money magazine was entirely devoted to baby boomer retirement. I'm 34 and not anywhere near retirement so it was completely useless. An article -- fine. An entire issue? Come on.

Ok, so I'm hungry and ticked off right now. Sue me. :D

A really big concern is who is going to replace these people when they retire. There is simply not enough trained professionals to meet demand in the next few years since the baby boomers had relatively fewer kids. It's going to be a big headache for corporations in the future. Its no joke.

Not that different...won't it just be a moderately more angry tune?

1. Set up BoomSpace.Com for all the Boomers to blog and whine.
2. Sell advertising for denture cream and Depends.
3. Profit!

It's amazing any of them are even alive. They somehow survived high fat diets, high smoking rates, high rates of drug abuse, no seat belt laws, no helmet laws, no nanny-state laws period. Their parents didn't have welfare, food stamps or Medicaid.

How the fsck are they even here???

QFT. The pop culture media has always centered around the young and "fabulous". Teenagers and early-twenties "adult" seem to think the world revolves around them. This is laughable. The media bombarded us with "news" about Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Paris, etc. The baby boomers are the least of our problem.

Illogical. The next generation is still pretty young. Only a while from now will we know if those things were pointless or not when we compare the life expectancy of baby boomers to the next couple of generations.

No, what is illogical are the fear tactics used by the nanny-staters to push these things. According to their fear mongering, no one from the previous generations should even be alive.

What pisses me off are those commercials that play some old hippie track like "Inna Godda Davida" or some rock song from the late 60's, then goes on to talk about financial planning and preparing for retirement. They're showing all this trippy background stuff in it too, pretty weak sauce.

From a medical standpoint, a lot of them are still alive because of blood pressure, cholesterol, and various other drugs and technological interventions that can somewhat counteract the years of abuse they've put on themselves.

High blood pressure and cholesterol are genetic conditions that may, or may not be aggravated by behavior.

Why can't they both be illogical? Seems to me they are.

I should have done my research into the magazine's demographic before subscribing. ;)

You'd have to catch me to hit me with the cane anyway, old timer! :D

Yes, those Ameriprise commercials contribute to my attitude. "You're going to rewrite the book on retirement!" Who cares?!? Just do it if you want to!
