Is anyone else really cautious about what they post on ATOT while at the office?

I was gonna post in the world of warcraft thread how I enjoy playing because find manipulating the market fun.. but seeing how as I work at an investment bank, I was worried that phrase my draw red flags. Then I thought about changing it to "manipulating the auction prices". Anyone who's played WoW would know what I was talking about. But I work in the municipal bonds department, where there's the whole mess going on with auction rate securities... and so I thought better of that.

I don't know the extent that my internet usage is monitored.. and I wonder if they'd be able to detect phrases when I post on ATOT.. I do know that people have been fired for forwarding internal memos out of the office though, and they've usually been caught within the day, so I figure better safe than sorry!

Not even remotely. My grandmother died recently and left me a decent sum of money; not a lot by most people's standards, but enough to live comfortably for a while. Having just broken up with my girlfriend of the last 5 years, I've decided it's finally time for me to move out of my hometown (nothing holding me here and the money to do it). Ergo, I will be leaving my current job within the next couple months. I haven't told them yet, but if they figured out, it wouldn't be a huge deal by any means.

So no, I don't care what I type. I don't think anyone monitors it anyway, and I know all the guys in the tech department, they're cool.

Usually pretty cautious about what I post, and even what threads I open. I figure that they track everything but generally don't look unless given a reason. I'd rather not make myself a target...

Since most firms require web proxies, and there are off-the-shelf ones that log and scan, I assume that something like the OP's example would be flagged. Once the context was recognized, there would likely be a reprimand for "non-work-related Internet use" at most.

meh, i wouldn't worry TOO much about it. I'd imagine they track what websites you visit, and the time you spend there, but unless they know your username on AT and do a search for your posts, there is a very small chance you'd "get caught" talking about the market. I don't know of many (any?) places that record, go through, and report on plain text that is passed through HTTP
