You at work/college? All standard IRC ports were shut down at a lot of major institutions because of the Blaster worm. Try connecting to an undernet server on port 8080.

You don't connect to mIRC, you connect to a specific IRC network (eg. Dalnet, EFnet, Undernet). You use mIRC, a program, do GUIfy the interface for you.

IRC = generic name for chat networks that one connects to

mIRC = a Windows-based client to do the connecting

I don't use mIRC however I never have problems connecting. I have been on undernet pretty much 24-7 with no connection problems whatsoever. (both BitchX and Eggdrop)

Undernet only has like 3 good servers anymore. Efnet has some sort of weird ass security setup on their servers so now nobody is allowed to use most of them.

What does "I havent been able to connect to mIRC " mean?

There are 100 different IRC servers to use... mIRC is just a program.

This is the stupidest question ever. Can you connect to internet explorer? How about Outlook, can you connect to that?
