I am so excited about these games! I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up when all three of these games came out. Because, I cant wait for a traditional RPG adventure. I love all of Square's games, Ff7 through ff9( Yes, I loved FF 8!). I also cant wait for FFXI, because it is going to be online. I have always wanted to play an online FInal Fantasy game. So, is anyone else really excited about FF 10, 11 and 12?

Ah, Shut up, Budman ;)

Well, Final Fantasy 10, 11 and 12 are coming out for the PC, and they will be using a keyboard ;)

Usually, when they port Playstation games over to the PC the graphics are craptastic (yes, I made up that word).

If I may say "ROFL" to that, and the playstation version had "spectastic" graphics? No, I didn't make up that word. IMO the FF series has gone down the drain to become just an above average RPG. It's hard to compete with the past...the FF games on PC look much better than their counterparts. Let's see what can be done with FFX (if it comes to PC) since that will be on PS2.

4, 5 and 6 (japanese numbers, that's 2, nothing, and 3 US) were fantastic.

I haven't really played the regular NES ones. 7 was actually pretty fun, but not very FFish. I couldn't even finish 8. Haven't played 9 yet.

Final Fantasy is washed up. It hit its prime at 3, and went downhill from there. Too many guns, spaceships, BS here and there. Its not even a fantasy anymore.

People keep saying FF is going down, yea, but can they name a sucessor? I havent met a person that said FF is going down able to name a game that will take FF's place.

I'd have to agree with BigDee.. the stories have gone down over each part to get worse and worse. well, with the exception of 6 (the japanese version), after that it's just been whatever.. 5 was a pretty big disapointment.. 1-3 which i recall were all on the OG nintendo, of course the graphics SUCKED mad goat nads, but the stories were more original then.. anyway, I heard a lot of hype about FFX.. I admit it looks quite impressive, but a lot of times graphics are heightened to make up for a crappy story.. hope that isn't the case cus i've been waiting a LONG time for a good classic style RPG..

by the way.. the secret of mana series and chronotrigger series wasn't bad..

Why exactly, you guys, do you consider FF7-9 bad. I thought they were incredible games, but then again, I never played 1-6

FF9 is bad mainly due to bad character design, those styles are aimed at kids. I think 6 and 7 are the tops of the FFs. Again, more FF bashing without a suggesting sustitude.

Well 7 was the first one I played, and still my favourite. 8 was okay but not spectacular. As soon as I saw the posters for 9 the little kid on it put me off buying it, I hate kids. If Square would spend as much time making storylines as they do releasing games maybe their latest games would be more appealing to me.

I agree! I first played FF2 on the Super NES and fell in love with it. I actually went to a used game store to find an old FF1 cartridge for regular NES just to play it. When FF3 came out, I was blown away!

I must admit, I really don't like FF8, mainly because of the silly story line. I also can't stand the inordinate amount of senseless graphics and animations put into the fight scenes: they are cool for the first hour, and then they are just a waste of time. I also can't stand the way the camera angle changes every time the screen is changed... one screen you're going up, so you hit up on the pad; the next screen, the camera angle is reversed (for no apparent reason other than the designers thought it looked cool) and if you keep hitting up, you go back to where you just were. Very annoying and senseless. In tv they call this shot parallelism so as not to confuse the viewers. Obviously the idea hasn't caught on for RPG's yet...

There is DEFINITELY room for an RPG oriented towards older kids that plays more towards the science fiction or fantasy roles. Adolescents expect a more complicated plot that doesn't seem so artificial. I think a game targeted that way could make lots of $$.

Then again, perhaps some of the dialogue seems silly just because it loses something in the translation... One friend living in Japan tells me that they don't translate very well. Maybe they should be targeted at the U.S. first since they sell many more copies here?

I haven't play 1-6 before because they weren't on PC. I liked 7 the best since it has more detailed stories on every character, but not so good in the love between Cloud-Tifa-Aeris. 8 has most part of the game focused on the love between the Squall and Rinoa, but weak on the background of other characters. I didn't play 9 yet (waiting for PC version), but I definitely like 7 the best.

10, 11 and 12??? Talk about milking it for all it's worth... And I thought Hollywood producers were bad with the movie sequels. :)

To answer the off topic question, nope.

Nope.. Final Fantasy 7 was great, and then there were the "I can't wait for FF8 to come out" threads. To me personally, I couldn't stand 10 hours of FF8.. I have yet to play FF9, but I have no ambition to.

I was happy when FF7 came out because it was an RPG without castles and wizards. It was different and I liked it. They screwed up with 8 and kinda on 9. :(

How ironic, as I think FF8 was the best Final Fantasy ever made, then FF9 and then ff7

The only one I've played is 3/6(for SNES), and I thought it was good, but I wasn't motivated to play any of the other ones.

I meant going down relative to their older games. FF8 and FF9 weren't revolutionary like FF1, FF2, FF3, and FF7. Maybe I expect a lot from square, but I feel that they delivered in those games. Each had a WOW-factor that is missing in the latest PS releases. Maybe 10 will revolutionize in that same way with it's online-play. So, is FF going down? Perhaps not in sales, but in my opinion, in quality, it is.

You dont need to name a successor for it to be going downhill. Its just getting old. You cant rehash the same story over and over again. The same old bad guy until you find the bad guy behind the bad guy story. I refused to play 8 and 9, and I almost refuse to see the movie.

And what the hell is up with the movie?

If someone had played the first 6 final fantasy games, and then saw the preview for the movie, theyd have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on.

Its too bad the other games sucked, but secret of mana 1 was the best. Hehe, I may have been the only person ever to reach lvl 99.

I reached that in SOM as well, that game was fantastic! The storyline was very well done, and the graphics were Top of the Line at the time. Almost as good as FF3US!
