Is anyone currently working their "dream job"?

Just curious if you've always had a set dream job, and if you landed it, how did it turn out?

You always hear about people wishing they were doing so and so, but aren't because either the pay is too low, not qualified, etc.

So are any of you working your dream job? How do you like it?

PS. Don't say your dream job is to sit around all day and make millions.

My dream job would be being the guy who paints the swimsuits on supermodels. But yeah, dont have that one yet.

That being said, my current job is about as good as it gets.

I would say my current job is pretty close to my dream job. Work with smart people in an environment that fosters thinking and new ideas. But then again I haven't really ever had a job I hated. I would simply quit and find something better.

Definitely not. One of my old jobs was the pre-cursor to my dream job, but I left because I thought it would not be the best job for having a family. What an idiot I am.

Haven't started my dream job yet, but I should start in about a month. I'm going to be a campaign manager for a local state rep. Pays a lot better than any of the other jobs on campus

I honestly do not think I have a dream job. There are lots of things I enjoy doing, but if I were to do them as a job, it would lose much of the fun of doing them. For instance, I enjoy working with computers and building them, ect. My current job is in IT, working on computers, building them, but the fact that I HAVE to do it, and am required to in order to make a living takes the fun out of it. If I didn't have to work, I wouldn't.

my dream job would be to be paid to sleep. No medical experiments, no monitoring, no surveys- just pay me to sleep privately in my own bed whenever I want and for every hour I sleep I get paid like $100. That's my dream "job". Nope, not getting paid to sleep right now.

my dream job is whatever can get me into an extremely spacious home on land where next neighbor is at least a couple hundred feet away, by time I'm 40.
with that said, I may be on track for that. Got 2 years before I commission though. That dream entirely depends on my abilities, of which I cannot prove at this point.

supporting a comfortable life is all I require. If I have no financial worries, and can retire around the age of 44 and again, have no worries for the rest of my life... then I'll be happy. And quite honestly, that 'job' will be more than enough to keep me happy if it takes me where I want during the course of said job.
I'm a pyro, and like explosions. And am easily amused and excited by said explosions. I think such a job can keep me occupied. Stressed, very likely. But that's why 20 years is all it takes to retire.

Not yet, but I will start down that road come June or so... I'm leaving my current job, moving (haven't completely decided on the location yet, but I'm leaning towards New York or California), and pursuing the writing career I initially wanted to get into throughout high school and college. Love has a way of changing your priorities... Now that that ship has sailed, I'm free to start living for my dreams again. It's strangely liberating, yet simultaneously terrifying.

So I am prepared to go forth into the world, armed solely with hopes and dreams (and a fair amount of talent), ready to prove to myself that I can succeed. Or, maybe I'll fail, but in a stunningly spectacular way. Either way, at least I'll be able to live my life without having to wonder what could have been.

Everyone should try to pursue their dreams, whether it's professional or personal. You've got one shot in this world; why waste it on anything less than your ideal vision of what you would like to be?

My dream isn't so much a job as it is a hobby that I enjoy. And I happen to do that hobby in close proximity to an endless money waterfall.

So I guess my dream job is an endless money waterfall.

I wouldn't say I am working my dream job but I am really quite content with my situation since I made the tough decision in 2004 that money is less important than being happy with all aspects of my life. The fact that I no longer participate in the commuting rat race has made a huge difference in my life. Work and getting to it and back home no longer consume 12-13 hours of my life 5 days a week.

Been a firefighter/paramedic for going on 27 years and couldn't think of doing anything else at all. Still look forward to going to work every shift (BUT THEN RETIREMENT IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER )
