Is anyone allowed to nap during work?

I wish there was a scheduled naptime here at work, like there was in pre-school.

A friend of mine who works as an assistant in the marketing department has a cool boss with a comfy leather couch in her office. Every other week or so, she asks her boss if she can take a nap on the couch and her boss lets her sleep there for 20 minutes or so.

If I'm tired, I'll usually drive home during my lunch break for a quick 45-minute nap. Today I fell asleep on the couch on my balcony while reading "Lord of the Rings". Woke up an hour later, ate an egg and went back to work.

Lol is this friend hot? The boss probably stares at her while she's sleeping 😛

As for me, I do "nap" (fall unconsious for a few minutes) accidentally during the day when I'm feeling really sleepy. Doesn't matter too much because I'm just an intern and I can sorta prop my head up so it isn't terribly obvious if they don't look directly at me lol

During our lunch period, which is unpaid but is anywhere between 0 and 120 minutes, we can do whatever we want. (Erm... well, whatever isn't otherwise illegal) One of the guys in the office frequently goes out, eats lunch on the grass in front of the building and then takes a nap.

You are me! 😛

Probably not allowed. Yes, sometimes I do.. it's beyond my control

a friend of mine brings a pillow in his car and goes out there to sleep during the day.

I have done that before too, but i never planned it out by bringing a pillow

Just to day I took a nap in the office library this afternoon since I Wasnt feeling well. And of course, whenever I have to take a nap, I let my boss know that I am going to do so. He hasnt said anything to me so far, so I dont know whether its allowed in my company or not. And I dont care.

Heh, that reminds me... there's a park just behind the office complex, and I used to eat my lunch on a bench outside and watch kids play on the swings nearby. Afterwards, I'd curl up on the grass with a book and take a little nap after reading... when I told my mom I did that, she was horrified and said it was "terribly unprofessional". I started going home after that.

at my old job we would from time to time go up to this room that no one ever went into to put blue-prints away. once in a while my friend and i would just lay down on the cabinets and sleep for an hour or so. since i left that job i havent slept on the job

Err. I have done it during luch hour. Simply put my head down and went to sleep. Have went in the libaray got on a sofa and slept many time durning lunch hour.

During regular hour I have done the above too.

But typically i oversleep from luch to an extra hour and I wake up and noone cares.

Maybe I am getting fired soon. But oh well its been going on like this forever. So who knows.

No, my work place isn't run like a Kindergarten class. Do you guys get a 1/3 pint of milk and a cookie during morning break too? Maybe today you an learn about the letter "S" and how to share your crayons with your neighbor.

Sometimes we get milk and cookies. 🙂

I don't see anything wrong with napping every once in awhile, employees will be even more productive if well-rested and refreshed.

In seriousness I quite agree. If I was a boss I'd rather give an employee a 20 minute nap if they are dragging a$$ and get a good 7 hours of work out of that person rather than have him/her half asleep the entire day and basically get like 2 hours worth of work out of that person. However I would not like to see employees make a habit out of it.

BTW: can I have a cookie?
