Is anybody here making a living doing 3D stuff?

Like 3D animation,I want to know what I can do to learn the 3D programs. I know bryce and poser, and am learning 3D studio max(teaching myself) but should I go to a trainging center for descreet, or something to learn more? I dont want to go to a 4 year school that I have to take classes on other things. I have already taken photography,drawing, painting and all that other stuff, I just want to learn 3d applications. Help me!

A friend of mine owns a rendering farm out in West LA and tells me to start with Studio Max when I ask him how to get in the field. He also directed me to this website...

Hope that helps. It has alot of resources from industry people (mainly Hollywood movie effects) but I'm sure you'll find something you can use.
