Is anybody a game tester here?

I have seriously been considering a career in becoming a "quality assurance representative" and I have been looking on Google for a while. Is there anybody here that can point me in the right direction?

Very true.

My cousin tested PS2 games at Mi**ay for about 2 years. Then he got tired of it.
Imagine you have to sit in front of a tv/ps2 and play the same game for 8 hrs for 6 mo AND you have to go thru every sinngle area/level/combo/enemy/power ups over and over again to find bugs. And then write reports.
It's fun for a few days or even weeks but try that for a few months.
Sure, my cousin tested a fps game for a few months and he enjoyed that. But he then had to test some crappy games. And he said it sucks.
He got out of there when he realized that he might have to test classic arcade games.

Plus side is that he got paid to play games AND got free E3 tickets.

It all depends on whether you have the patience to sit in front of a TV/ps2 and play the same (good/bad) game for 8hrs/5days/6mo.

(I can't do it because I still want to enjoy playing my games after work.)

Anyway, you might want to go to game developer websites and see if they have a job opp page. I think most of them would look for testers with good writing skills.

Hope that helps.

There is no job market for 'game testing'. There are more than enough people out there willing to beta test games for free. You just cant expect to make a living doing something like that.

I have a friend doing it and loving it. It's a low paying job for college kids and such, but certainly not the worst one I could think of. I'd just go ask companies directly for applications.

Uhh you do realize that software has to be tested before it goes beta right? The programmers don't just get it right on the first try, with any application. That's why there are software testers, usually they have some programming skills, but not a lot of experience so they don't get paid too much.
