I have a dell inspiron 3800 @ 600Mhz and want to upgrade the memory. I need PC100 144-pin SODIMM.

1.Will any kind of SODIMM work? I mean are they company specific toshiba dell etc..
2.They have 256 144-pin SODIMM PC133 at newegg for $36 while at dell they have PC100 for $99. Would that memory work at all and if it did would the memory running at slower speeds be stable?

Please help.

-Thanks :)

I would imagine running PC133 memory at PC100 speed won't effect it. I have done this with computers since it's usually cheaper to go PC133 and you can use in on a system that uses PC133 later. I doubt that you will run into any problems with the PC133, so you might as well get the PC133.

You'll be fine with the PC133 sodimms from newegg, unless they are a special height that just simply wouldn't fit. Search the hot deals forum though, because I think that you might be able to get PC100 sodimms even more cheaply than $36. I believe something was recently posted for ~$20.
