Is Antec 300 pointless now that Antec 200 is out?

I mean, the 200 is about 10 USD cheaper, has more features and is basically the same design as the 300. It seems the only thing the 300 has going for it vs. the 200 is thumbscrews and a non-rubbish front.

Am I missing something?

the 200 is ugly, the 300 isnt IMO. I own a 300 and have seen a 200 in person, the 200 seems a little cheaper with construction quality too.

300 looks clean. I don't like the whole old school Chrysler emblem looks on the front. Simple grills and shape. And yeah, the 200 looks constructed from plastic on the front, but I dunno.

My server got moved to a 200.

I like the looks and the front SATA dock is nice.

Quality is decent. Not stellar, but certainly far from junk. Panels for sure aren't uber thick, but it's a PC and not a hydraulic jack. 🙂

Interior is easy to work in with lots of unobstructed space and not a lot of junk behind the front fans to make noise. Bottom mount for the power supply is nice, and it can be mounted upside down or right side up.

It also has a giant hole behind the CPU so you can add a different heatsink without pulling the whole works apart. Case also has a bit more room on the sides of the 5' bays to put cables.

Front panel is plastic but it is of good quality.

It's thoroughly worth the $40.

I just got a 300 to replace my vacuum cleaner lian-li. I just got nervous seeing this topic but I have to say I loved MisterDonut's assessment of the 200 front, that thing is ugly!

I do like the internal cutouts of the 200 and the non-raised top grill better, but that front is obscene and the first thing I did with my 300 was bust out the dremel.

. That is exactly what I did to my Antec 900. So, bad cable management eh ? Let's see what Sir Dremel has to say about that...*rolls sleeves up*

Exactly. My wife runs for cover when she hears "honey, have you seen my safety goggles?"

Never got the time to file though, my cuts look like crap. Thinking about buying another one and starting over.

OT continued: I have a strip of u-channel that I picked up at auto zone a while ago, I do the same thing but dammit, I know the ugly cuts are there!

Going OT 😛, but edge molding can fix the edges. I improvised and used a tubular rubber weatherstripping material and just cut it down the middle and taped it down.

Edges might look like crap, but I'm sure with more effort you can smooth it out a bit (Or real edge molding, but the guy at Home Depot just had some lying around and gave me like 7 feet of that stuff for free).

I see you did the old upside-down PSU trick. What's it do to your airflow? And is the air inside the case enough warmer that the PSU has to run more?
