Is an SB5100 cable modem faster than an SB3100?

I'm confused, I was looking at CC's customer reviews and people are claiming huge speed increases when replacing SB3100s with SB5100s. And they aren't on DOCSIS 2 systems.

What do you think?

What are your speeds now with the SB3100? Your speeds are ultimately capped by your ISP. I have a SB4100 and I always cap out around 350 kb/sec which is what Adelphia has capped me at. I don't see any speed increase going from SB3100 to SB5100, as ultimately you are capped by your ISP.

nolovenohope, that's what I always thought. BTW, my downloads are +- 3000k. But its still strange peopel are reporting big speed increases. I wonder if lazy techs are provisioning the modems and accidentally leaving out the caps or something? And it turns out I am using a 4100 now, I forgot I swapped out my 3100 a year or so ago.

In my old house I had a 3100. Moved into a new house and had a POS RCA. Exhanged it last week with a Motorola 5120. Speeds are the same ~3000k.
