Just curious.. I won't kill myself if it is, but I'd like to set my future goals and aspiration to a more obtainable level if need be .. just kidding.. really, I'm just curious..

100 is supposedly average (average is actually higher) gifted starts at 130, genius at 140.

So that means that my 149 is better than average.

What the hell am I doing up at this time of the night, anyway?

Yo, freed, IQ means little to nothing. You can do anything you want to in this life. If you have to work a little harder, then so be it. Just do it.

I guess you're right.. Luckily my gf has a higher IQ, scored a 1450 on her SATs and is getting straight A's at Columbia.. She could be the brains and I could....Maybe get a job sweeping up whereever she works in the future.. being a bit sarcastic but.. this whole IQ thing is depressing.. MAYBE untreated A.D.D. lowers your ability to take IQ tests..

Here it's way below average. Check out the IQ threads. It starts at about 170, and with each post, we find that the first poster is the dumbest, and every subsequent poster is slightly smarter.

In all seriousness, you're fine. Don't put much stock in that though. Who's smarter? The guy with a 110 IQ that has a high-paying job and wonderful life, or the guy with a 150 IQ that lives in his parent's basement and is mad at the world?

I bet most people here haven't had a real IQ test by a psychiatrist or professional. Every IQ test I've taken online has gotten me results from 125 to 180, but when I really tested it I had about a 140. Many geniuses don't use it wisely, however, and a lot of people with <130 IQ's have gone on to become world leaders in the arts or sciences. Consequently, many people with >130 IQ's are still just your average computer programmer or doctor, mired in obscurity.

The 2nd one is smarter but the 1st guy is aprox. 25% happier according to the equation: I=B.
I=ignorance
B=Bliss

Its what you do with what you have , that'll define you. You could have an IQ of 200 but if its not used in any way as you keep getting distracted, well , what does that say about IQ in general?

no, the average is exactly 100 because the scale is adjusted if the population's IQ rises.

Wtf is it with people and IQ scores? Why do you associate IQ score with greatness or superiority or success? Why is IQ so important? Whatever happened to MOTIVATION and INITIATIVE, etc?? Those don't require 160 IQ. So why do you need a high IQ?

No. The requirements go up, and people who just got 100 before now get just under it.

I'm studying for this nutty test. The rules don't seem to make much sense, though. What's the point of it again? Does it make one more employable?

"Why should I hire you?"

"I just scored 110 on the IQ test. That's 10 points above average you know."

The standard deviation of IQ is roughly 15 points.

Therefore you are more than 1 standard deviation from the norm.

Make of that what you will.

BTW Richard Feynman, regarded by many as the greatest Physicist post-einstein had a tested IQ of 115.

you should rethink the way you look at yourself and life, if you let IQ numbers, SAT scores, and grade become the measure of your self-worth.

hey, you have a girlfriend......that's better than 90% of the people here :)

My gf is a psychologist who is trained to give IQ tests. First off, online tests are bull. And she also says that your result is not a static number, but really part of a range. In other words, on any given day taking this test you may score a few points higher or a few points lower; so you take it this week and get a 125, then try again next month and maybe you'll get a 129, or a 122. And as many people have pointed out, IQ is really pretty meaningless in the real world, it's really just a test of cognitive ability, or something like that, I'd have to ask her for that definition again. :)
