Is an Apollo GTS 32meg better than an Asus Geforce 2 mx??

The Apollo GTS card would be fairly significantly faster then the Asus MX card.
However the Apollo card is likely a generic GTS made by a no-name manufacturer, compared to the MS made by Asus which is obviously well known.

The Asus MX card is likely more reliable and as higher quality components onboard, and possibly comes with a longer warranty.

Still, if you just want to save money then the Apollo card is probably fine, and the GTS is quite a bit faster then the MX.

i am thinking about getting the 64meg version. That would be v. fast wouldn't it??

It will have 1.2ghz t'bird 266fsb!

It should fly...well it should, even though it is apollo!?!

BTW does anyone know a site for the apollo video cards??

Is the GTS a geforce 2 or Geforse 1? From what I have seen the Geforce 1 GTS wouldn't be faster that a Geforce 2 MX, more like the same speed

yeah, there is no geforce1 gts. if the 2d quality on the apollo is decent, then i would get the apollo GTS over the asus MX.

Yeah..i think will get the GTS.

In Australia, the prices are:
Asus MX 32meg - $230
Apollo Geforce 2 GTS 64meg 256 bit - $310

I think it is worth the extra $80!

Thanks for the replies.

are you sure you cant find a geforce2 PRO 64 MB for around the same price? If so, that might be a better investment. If you are buying the 64 MB GTS version over the 32 MB, do realize that you will only gain performance where there are large amounts of textures, such as 1600*1200 resolution, or playing in FSAA

Okay...are you sure about the extra 32mb on the gts only doing anything good @ 1600x1200, because i only go to a max of 1024x768!!

Should i just get the 32mb for $260??

thanks

Just go with the 32MB GTS card, the extra 32MB yields very little in the way of performance gains.

The only way your going to see any sort of a perfromance gain with the 64M<B card is in a few very texture intensive games at 1600x1200, or maybe 4X FSAA at 1280x1024. If your not going above 1024x768 I really can't see the extra 32MB being of any use at all to you.
