Is an 800 FSB really that much better than 400 FSB?

Well, this is the big question I'm wondering.

Logically the 800 FSB seems to be more efficient at communicating with the BUS than a 400 FSB. So, is it really better? And by how much?

How well the FSB performance scales as speed increases is really dependant on the platform. Netburst (P4, Celeron) really benifits from increased FSB speed.

yeah i think intel is gonna move to a 1ghz fsb at the end of the year
more fsb speed is like gold with P4's as their mhz and need for more data faster increases
800 vs 400 reminds me of the northwood p4c vs. the willamente P4 debates and bashses :)
but of coarse there was a larger gap there because of other core differences too
yur not gonna get like 2x increase in performance but you should receive a good 10 to 20% boost in some things when comparing at the same clock speed.
the increase in performance by changing the bus from 400 to 800 is less noticable with chips clocked under 3ghz imo
when things get faster intel won't be able to say no to a free 10%+ boost in performance by just upping the fsb again
