im thinking of trying one out, the B version with 1.5v that is, would the 1.5 v be impossible to find soon if that is the case or rather do you think there is still room for improvement on the chip..like 1.6 at 2.6ghz? or is this the end that amd can squeeze out

any proof? just rumor? should i wait til a new better stepping come out that can do 2.6ghz at stock or is that dreaming. I dont want to make the mistake of buying it only to see a better stepping pop up.

considering that all 1700+'s made now do 2Ghz+ easy, then yeah they'll be phased out soon and "remarked" at the appropriate speed ratings. not to mention AMD's still in a tight bind and needs to raise its ASP's as it lost $112 million last quarter

a place in canada here was advertising a really recent date (like 0313 RPMW or something) and it said "AMD has discontinued its 1700+ cpus" or something or other....im not gonna hold this as proof, as it could have ust been a marketing ploy, but at the same place i dont see any more 1700+'s being sold.....even a local place here isnt selling them....i only know of one local place in my city selling them now ...

but i dunno
its obviously the lower ones will get phased out sooner or later
and they've been out for a while

I don't think people need to worry. When the 1700 is discontinued, I'm sure prices for the 1800+ or 1900+ will be pretty low by then.

So this means the 2100+ t-bred "b"s will be $50 bucks any day now...

get the high clock multies for cheap. (for those who like big numbers instead of actual performance:))

to those wondering "do I buy now or wait for the new stuff". I just got a 1700 "B" at new egg for $43 free shipping, this chip does 2400. That's alot of speed for the money! Get it and run it that fast for awhile. It would take alot more speed at a very low price to make me pull one of mine out a board, whether its the "latest" stepping or not

i mean the question should be should i fork out 70 to 76 to get the best stepping that would no question do 1.65 at 2.2 to 2.4 ghz but for that amont i could almost have barton 2500+ or just get a cheap at neweggs which im sure wouldn't overclock as good and save 25 dollars
