Is Amazon's super saver free shipping as slow as they make it out to be?

I just ordered something with it - and I have the feeling I should've tossed the extra 8 bucks in? What are your experiences?

Also is it fedex or ups?

I hardly think paying 79$ for prime is my answer considering I order something about once a year?

It is actually pretty quick. Couple days at most for me. They have warehouses all over. My stuff usually comes from KY and I am in IL so it doesn't take long.

It depends.

Great answer, huh?

I ordered three items with free shipping, that is, one order of three items. The three items shipped separately: a camera, a SD card, ans another SD card. The two SD cards arrived in a matter of two and three days while the camera was delayed another week. So I had a fun Christmas running around the house pointing the memory cards at stuff and pretending to take pictures.

Not one person has answered who ships the stuff? I know books they do postal mail sometimes. This is direct from amazon (not marketplace) and they said they would not do po boxes - so I'm assuming a carrier such as fedex or ups. .

I did not see it mentioned whom delivered stuff?

Anyone?

Whoever is cheapest at the moment for the given destination. Could be UPS, FEDEX, DHL, etc.

Up until about 6 months ago I always chose free shipping because they packaged stuff the same day, even if estimate was a week away and I believe in most cases upgraded shipping to two day.

Starting 6 months ago free shipping became really really slow. I wouldn't mind the actual shipping time since they ship via USPS (often via media mail) and it can be slow. But it would seem that with free shipping they now sit on my order as long as they can. In other words if the shipping estimate says a week ahead, they will not package my order and ship it a day early, they will only ship it on or after shipping estimate day. This sucks, because if you chose 2-day shipping, they will package your order right away and ship it next day, but with free shipping they wait >week to just ship it.

On my last order, they waited almost two weeks to ship it, which is annoying as hell.

I just ordered something a little bit ago that took 3 days to get to me but it shipped out of the same state according to USPS.

Sigh, hope that is not the case.

I have the same question as episodic.

I ordered something this past saturday, used super saver shipping, and it's kinda gotta be here before December 14th. I felt like that was plenty of time, but now I'm getting the vibe that I may be wrong. Am I?

Actually, this has been true for many people for the past couple of years. It is not at all uncommon for Amazon to sit on an item for a week before shipping it out.

Super Saver sucks. It's not the shipping, it's the handling time. You may as well develop and build your own manufacturing plant, it'll be done before Amazon gets it to you. I won't buy from them anymore because of it.
