Is Amazon doing some kind of pricematching now?

I was over at Amazon.com, looking at their DVD prices, and I saw them offering Spiderman. When I clicked on it, there was a new option there I had never seen before, that asked me if I had found it anywhere for less... Has this been around for a while or is it new?
If it's new, maybe we can find a cheaper deal, get the ATOT effect involved, and force the price down... Just a thought...

Edit: It only seems to work on Spiderman DVD... I guess they're just trying it out...

They've had it for some time, & if they agree to reduce their price, it's only to you, & only on certian items. I'm trying to get them to reduce their prices to match Costco on a Nikon 5700, but the PM page has an error on it, on the phone with them for 45 minutes, one clueless CSR after another. I had a long talk with them over the Toshiba e740 PDA price changes, they're pretty inflexible & have little tricks like selling another vendor's item cheaper & stating "It's not really Amazon who's selling the item, etc...

I think the offer is pure marketing & has very little substance.

Although they did honor the rebate on my e740 that I submitted (before I returned it for a full refund😀), got the $50 rebate, waiting on the $100 rebate to show up now😀.

I suspect my PM on the Nikon is hopeless...

Certain items they are testing it with but its basically like a suggestion since they dont guarantee they lower the price.
