I was trying to get them to price match a television being sold at Fry's...from a deal I found on SlickDeals.

Amazon decided they couldn't do the price match...because SlickDeals isn't an authorized reseller...

I'm still trying to figure out why SlickDeals was even in the conversation with Amazon.

You either confused the CSR or gave him/her a way to wiggle out of the pm.

Unfortunately, I suspect you're right on both counts. So far, none of the reps I've swapped emails with has had "an American sounding name," and they have all seemed confused by the whole thing.
As for SlickDeals, I merely mentioned that I had found the sale through a forum on SlickDeals. In retrospect, I probably SHOULDN'T have said that...but what's odd is that they continue to ignore my explanation that SlickDeals is not a seller...and is not involved in the sale any more than my newspaper would be if I had seen the sale posted in an ad there.

I'm about to give up and accept defeat on this...and just go buy the plasma set that I really want. (the Samsung 75" was a "settle for" even though it's bigger than the 65" Panasonic plasma I want.) ;)

Well...I finally got tired of fighting with Amazon over this. They've drug their feet so long that the local Fry's sold out of the television in question...so, obviously:

I went on the Frys.com website and it appears that the television is unavailable to be picked up in your area store. There for we can not approve this price match. I've very sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Screw it...I ordered the 65" Panasonic TCP65VT60 65" plasma from Paul's that I wanted...but didn't want to spend the money to get. Free shipping, free white glove delivery...no sales taxes. (that saved me $197+ but I'll still have to pay it as use tax later)
