Is aloe vera that much better for sunburns than regular lotion?

If it's purpose is just to keep the skin moist in order to prevent peeling, would lotion work as well?

<--- currently bright red =/

yes it is much better.

although any lotion is far better than nothing.
if you have a helping hand, slice watermelon or potato thin and apply to your skin, they both will calm the skin. feels better if they are chilled before applied.

🙂

Using either aloe vera or lotion continuously every day will make that burn into a tan. Once you stop lotioning, it will peel though it will of course eventually peel, you mind as well make that thing into a tan😉

it helps for like 3 seconds and then the burning returns. see if u can take a bath in that stuff. 🙂 sunburns suck.

ehhh ... I don't believe anything they say about Aloe Vera. I've used it for sunburn before, and it really didn't make anyf difference vs non aloe vera stuff.

What should help the most is a topical steroid such as Hydrocortisone.
It should reduce swelling and pain.

Oral Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, or Aspirin should also help dull any pain.

Unlike Aloe Vera, everything I have mentioned is regulated by the FDA.

i've always been very impressed by aloe vera when i'm sunburnt in summer, and yes it feels loads better than any of the other mousturizers i've tried...

how can you be red if you're black?

They sell stuff at target thats supposed to help sunburns. Its not so much a lotion as a gel.
