Is AIM forcing everyone else to upgrade?

y guys I have a question. Recently my friend, who is using my DeadAim since I switched to linux about a year ago started to get messages from the official AIM client that they NEEd to upgrade. But I know to upgrade is not possible, since it will break DEAD Aim.

Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm not sure what to do, other than tell them to use gaim. The main reason this person likes to use DEAD AIM is simply because it logs conversations, while maintainig all the functionality of regular aim.

Are there any work arounds, or are we screwed to upgrade?

They are using 5.5.3415 and it is telling them to upgrade to 5.9.3861


I did a search, however all I found were a bunch of threads that said Aim Triton Sucks, which I agree with totally 😉

The best thing to do is use GAIM (like you said) or use Trillian or use [INSERT OTHER THIRD PARTY AIM COMPATIBLE IM CLIENT HERE].
 
Get Trillian or Gaim.

AIM Triton does suck, I used it for two days before switching back.

Just don't upgrade, they've been saying old editions of AIM will be cut off from support, but the 5.2 versions still work fine.
 
Been using the old 5.2 version of aim with adhack for awhile now, no problems, no need to upgrade.
