Is ADSL2+ backward compatable?

I want to get an ADSL2+ wireless modem router with ethernet ports, but I don't have ADSL2+. I have ADSL, but want to buy an ADSL2+ router so it's future-proof for ADSL2+ when it's available here. Will my ADSL work in the ADSL2+ router?

I want a combo (ADSL2+ modem/router) by the way, not a seperate ADSL2+ modem and router. I just want to make sure that original ADSL works in an ADSL2+ modem/router.

Since many DSL providers use proprietary equipment and configuration, the only way to know for sure if the router you want will work with your connection is to ask your ISP...
