I was thinking about getting it. But is it easy to use for basic stuff? Or is the layout hard to use? I am a newb and this is my first DV camcorder. But since my first videos are of my first son I want them to be as good as possible because I ain't sure I will be able to keep them on my HDD.

Hmm, for basic stuff I'd suggest Premiere Elements instead. It's a difference of ~$600 dollars.

Whats Premiere Elements do(whats the difference)? If Adobe Pro offers features to enhance the quality of the videos by a noticeable difference I would rather use it.

Easy to use for a computer-proficient guy, but sometimes not easy enough to use for everyone and their mom. It's a great program, and I'd recommend it if you're looking to do any kind of slightly more involved editing than the basic step by step things you can do in Windows Movie Maker. I don't know anything about the difference between Pro and Elements.

I had to do Preimere the other day for a a last minute project at the school's multimedia section in the library....I think its like photoshop~ first time you try it out it makes no sense, you are confused, and it seems like a useless program and what you get accomplished seems very primitive.

But being a photoshop user, you know the more you pick at it, the more things you discover very quickly ;) I didn't have that time for preimere...so if you have the time to learn it, it maybe useful.

In the end though, just make sure you are using a nice codec at very high settings~try to save in the highest resolution you can as well...
