is AC wireless needed for a 60 mbps connection

currently i'm in an ADSL 2+ connection with 7 mbps down and 1 mbps up, since my area will be getting fibernet connection soon i brought this router ,tp link archer c20i so that i don't need to buy a new one if fibernet connection arrived in my area . now at present i have connected the router with a normal modem for ADSL connection but now unfortunately the wired modem is not working properly and i'm planning to buy a new one .i have two choices buy tp link td-w8968 v4 or a used wired modem ,the advantage with tp link td-w8968 v4 is that it supports both DSL and ADSL connections but i already have a router . so if i buy tp link td-w8968 v4 i should sell my current tp link archer c20 i, my question is which is better tp link td-w8968 v4 or the tp link archer c20i , i know that tp link archer c20i supports wireless AC but is it useful for a 40 mbps or a 60 mbps connection ? my both laptop and phone supports 5ghz band with wireless AC and there are about 5-6 2.4 ghz users in my neighbouring area and zero 5 Ghz users . so which should i go tp link td-w8968 v4 or buy a used wired modem and hook it with the tp link archer c20i?

For that speed of connection, unless you need fast wireless between devices in the house, 802.11n would be more than adequate.

My router is an ASUS RT-N56U, advertised as a 300 Mbps router. I just ran a speed test on the 5GHz wireless connection: over 83 Mbps. (The 2.4GHz network only got to about 30, as I have a ton of networks around me. 5GHz is almost totally clear.)

I sped read through the OPs post. TSIA. It is not needed if you can get wireless N onto 5GHZ. I wouldn't despair if you are not getting 120mpbs wireless link rate. Remember wireless speeds is full duplex (two way communication combined) so half is the 60mbps that you want. Also mbps is not like miles per hour. Your internet going from 7 mbps to 60 mbps means you are not getting data 8.57x faster. Think of it as maximum boxes of data carried per trip.
