is AA/FSAA necessary @ 1600*1200???

This is completely personal prefecrence. Some will argue high res. with no AA/AF is better looking. Others will argue low res. with AA/AF look better.

I prefer higher resolutions.

I would at least use some AF at 1600x1200 anyway so I'll always use higher resolutions and AF..AA if possible.
 
I always use AF(I do like 16x AF performance setting ) also I never use AA since I try to run @1280x1024 on my LCD. Using AF is a must have in my books.

To answer your question, I guess it depends on the game etc and what your eyes prefer so bottom line its down to you.




 
See my sig for info... and that is at 4xFSAA and 8xAF....


I even go 1600x1200 with those settings in Counter-Strike.
